Care guide

How to care for your copper bottle.

A little patina is normal — in fact, it’s expected. Solid copper changes tone as it ages, and that’s exactly how it should be. Here’s how to keep yours happy, and how to bring back the bright shine whenever you like.

Good to know

The patina is not a defect

Over time, your bottle naturally darkens and develops a warm, deeper tone. That’s not wear and it’s not damage — it’s copper doing what copper has always done. It’s also the surest sign you’re holding the real thing: coated or plated steel never patinas, because there’s no living copper at the surface to age.

Prefer the bright, mirror look? You can restore the shine in about 60 seconds, any time you like — here’s how.

Restore the shine

The 60-second clean

No special products, no fuss. Two things from your kitchen and a single minute bring the bottle back to a bright copper glow.

1

Make a paste of half a lemon + a spoon of salt

Cut a lemon in half, sprinkle a spoonful of salt over the flesh — that’s the whole kit. Nothing harsh, nothing you can’t find in the kitchen.

2

Rub inside and out, then rinse well with warm water

Work the lemon-and-salt over the surface in small circles. The dull film lifts away in seconds. Rinse thoroughly with warm water until it runs clear.

3

Air-dry fully before storing

Leave it open, upside down, until completely dry inside and out. Storing it damp is the one thing that dulls copper fastest.

That’s the whole ritual — lemon, salt, a rinse, and a proper dry. No polish, no machine, no chemicals.

The short version

Do’s & don’ts

Do

  • Hand-wash only — lemon and salt, or a mild soap
  • Store water and neutral drinks
  • Let it air-dry fully before putting it away
  • Expect a patina — it means the copper is real

Don’t

  • No dishwasher — heat and detergent ruin the finish
  • Don’t store acidic drinks (juice, soda, wine) for long
  • Don’t scrub with abrasive pads or harsh chemicals
  • Don’t worry about the darkening — it’s normal
